HICKORY, NC – Recently retired NASCAR great Dale Jarrett will follow fellow series champ Tony Stewart by helping make sure Morgan Shepherd’s Victory in Jesus Racing Dodge continues its recent run of strong finishes.
Jarrett, a longtime friend of Shepherd, will foot the Faith Motorsports tire bill at next weekend’s Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
“I have known the Jarrett family for as long as I have been in racing and there is no better family in this sport,” Shepherd said in appreciation for Jarrett’s offer of support for the May 24th race. “Ned and Dale and their families have always been good friends to me and have always helped with our charity trip and I want them to know that I really value their friendship and appreciate their help.”
Shepherd’s recent on-track success began three races back at Talladega when he ran the entire Nationwide Series race on two sets of Goodyear tires in an attempt to show potential sponsors that he can still wheel the #89 Dodge Charger with the younger generation. He finished 13th and flirted with the Top 10 several times during the race.
His efforts earned him a tire sponsorship from former Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart and race broadcaster Matt Yocum the following week at Richmond where he wheeled the Racing With Jesus Dodge to a 28th place finish.
Impressed with his 66-year-old friend’s desire and hard-work effort, Stewart helped Shepherd with his tire bill again the following week at Darlington as Shepherd raced to a 16th place finish on just two sets of rubber, vaulting his team into 30th place in full time owners points. The feat will now lock the car into next weekend’s race at Charlotte.
“Now we know we are going to make the race and we can tell a sponsor we got the tires to run on,” Shepherd said. “We just need that company who isn’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in to come on board and help us.”
Companies who may wish to help sponsor Shepherd and his Faith Motorsports crew at Lowe’s Motor Speedway or at another race venue later in the season can call The Family Marketing Partnership at 814-864-7801.
